Agenda- Virtual Open House and Announcement

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Announcement-

Since I am posting everything I have here on Google Classroom I have decided to stop posting the daily agenda on our class website for the time being. I don’t want to give more work for anyone, so until we return, we will be using only Google Classroom for our Agenda, Classwork, and Homework. Everyone is doing a wonderful job of keeping up with work on Google Classroom and communicating with me through email (tgonzalez@mbusd.org). Please continue to reach out if you need help or clarification.

Take Care!

Ms. Gonzalez

Agenda/Homework 3/18 and 3/19

Wednesday-Thursday, March 18-19, 2020

Wednesday- odd class periods and Thursday even class periods

**NOTE- Good Morning students! You all are doing a great job navigating our new style of classroom.

I will continue to communicate with you on this website like I have all year. When I want you to turn things in on Google Classroom, I will instruct you to do so under the agenda/homework. I will also be posting some slideshows with voice-over instructions as an option on Google Classroom. Otherwise, I will be posting items here like I always do. If you have questions, email me at tgonzalez@mbusd.org (my primary email) and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Take care,

Ms. Gonzalez

Agenda-

  1. Today you will need to use your writer’s notebook and a pen (pencil is fine but I will need to be able to see it when you take a picture to “Turn in/Submit” to Google Classroom later).
  2. For your rough draft I want you to first listen to a screen-cast I made to help you with formatting your rough draft. This is located on Google classroom and there are two screen-casts- one is on a slideshow and the other is showing a student sample. Click here to access a student sample: Student Sample- CB 2017  Click here to access the format slideshow without the screen-cast: How to Format a Proper Letter 2020
  3. You must write a hand written rough draft of your persuasive letter in your writer’s notebook to receive credit for this portion of the assignment. Don’t forget to include all of the requirements, which are on the requirements page located with your persuasive letter outline. You must write 5 paragraphs (an introduction, three body paragraphs, and a conclusion). Remember, do NOT just copy what you wrote on your outline. Each part of the writing process is making improvements as you go along.
  4. Your rough draft will take some time to complete, so this will be due at the end of the day Friday for the odd class periods and Monday afternoon for the even class periods.
  5. If you can, read for 15-30 minutes per day of your independent reading. You will have a Goodreads update every Monday as you usually do.

Homework-

Vocabulary Unit 7- annotate the passage for main ideas- due Monday on Google Classroom. You will have to take a picture of your physical Vocabulary packet and submit the pictures of each page (of your entire, completed packet) on Google Classroom. I will be giving you the answer key next week after your due date.

Persuasive Letter Rough Draft, hand written in your writer’s notebook, due Friday on Google Classroom for odd class periods (1, 3, 5, and 7) and due Monday on Google Classroom for even class periods (2 and 4). You will need to take a picture with your iPad/phone/Chromebook (yes you can take a picture with your Chromebook) and submit the picture of your completed rough draft  on Google Classroom. Please make sure you DO NOT “share” your assignment on Google Classroom, but “Submit/Turn In” under the posted assignment in Google Classroom.

Read 40+ pages, due every Monday/Tuesday of your Independent Reading

Agenda/Homework 3/16 (odd periods) and 3/17 (even periods)
